Application of a recyclable fluorous oxime in the convenient synthesis of 3-amino-1,2-benzisoxazoles and 4-amino-1H-2,3-benzoxazines

A microwave-assisted, fluorous synthetic route to 3-amino-1,2- benzisoxazoles and 4-amino-1H-2,3-benzoxazines has been developed. The strategy comprises linking the respective 2-fluorobenzonitrile or 2-(bromomethyl) benzonitrile to a fluorous oxime tag to give an aryloxime intermediate which then undergoes cyclization with concomitant cleavage of the substrate-tag in acidic conditions to provide the desired product in good to moderate yields. In addition, the aryloxime intermediate could be subjected to further reactions to expand the compound library. The product could be easily separated using fluorous solid-phase extraction (F-SPE) and the fluorous ketone recovered could be converted back to the fluorous oxime and reused in the next run of the synthesis.

Different peripheral substituted phthalocyanines: Synthesis, characterization, aggregation behavior, antioxidant and antibacterial activity

In this study, a novel phthalonitrile, 4-chloro-5-(2-((2-hydroxyethyl)(p-tolyl)amino)ethoxy)phthalonitrile (3), and its metallophthalocyanine derivatives (4-6) are prepared by cyclotetramerization with appropriate metal salts in dimethylformamide. The newly prepared compounds have been characterized by several spectroscopic techniques. All compounds are evaluated for their antioxidant and antibacterial potential. For the antioxidant studies, three tests are applied; DPPH (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazylradical) scavenging, metal chelating and reducing power activity. Compound 4 exhibits the best DPPH scavenging activity as 35.2% at 100 mg/L concentration. The metal chelating activities of compounds 3 and 4 are 69.7% and 56.4%, respectively. Reducing power activities of compounds 3 and 4 are higher than alpha-tocopherol which is used as positive control. All compounds show moderate antibacterial activity when compared to the standard antibiotics, amikacin and tetracycline.

Radical 5 is possibly formed via photodetachment of Cl atom from 1 (or VN) and might explain the formation of 3-chloro-6-oxocyclohexa-1,4-dienecarbonitrile 2 in N2 and Ar matrices. All the species were characterized by IR spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. The computed geometric and electronic structure of radical 5 is discussed. Overall, the results provided further insight into the mechanism of the photochemistry of 1,2-benzisoxazoles and allowed characterization of new interesting reactive intermediates.

DPP-IV inhibition can be a good strategy for modulating diabetes and cancer; hence, we have screened compounds 9a?d and 11a?e for their anticancer activity using MTT assay against A549 and MCF7 cell lines. Compounds 9a?d without glycine spacer have shown good anticancer activity compared to compounds 11a?e with glycine spacer. Compound 9b has shown moderate activity with IC50 values 4.72 ¡À 0.72 and 4.39 ¡À 0.809 muM against A549 and MCF7 cell lines, respectively. Interestingly, compound 9c with cyano group has shown very good anticancer activity with IC50 2.36 ¡À 0.34 muM against MCF7 cell line as compared to fluorouracil with IC50 45.04 ¡À 1.02 muM.
