General procedure: To a stirred solution of pyridin-2-amine (1.0 g, 10.6 mmol) and pyridine (1.01 mL, 12.7 mmol) in THF (35 mL) was added 2,2,2- trichloroethyl chloroformate (1.76 mL, 12.7 mmol) dropwise at 0 C. The mixture was stirred at 0 C for 1.5 h, poured into water, and extracted with EtOAc. The organic layer was washed with water, dried over anhydrous MgSO4, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was triturated with Et2O-hexane to give 36 (1.76 g, 62%) as a colorless powder.

NaHCO3, brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and concentrated. The residue was purified by flash chromatography. The resulting material was repurified by flash chromatography to provide a -4:1 mixture of (S)-tert-butyl 1-(benzo[dlisoxazol-3-ylmethyl)-2- oxo-2,3 ,4,5-tetrahydro- 1 H-benzo [bI [1 ,4jdiazepin-3-ylcarbamate and (S)-tert-butyl 1- (benzo [djisoxazol-3 -ylmethyl)-4-oxo-2,3 ,4,5 -tetrahydro- 1 H-benzo [bI [1,41 diazepin-3-ylcarbamate (742 mg, 63 %) as a yellow foam. LC-MS mlz 431 [M+Naj.

The reaction was heated at 90 C. for 12 h and then left at RT for 6 h. The resulting viscous oil was quenched over ice, extracted with EtOAc, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to a brown oil (1.17 g, 80% yield).; 3-Bromomethyl-benzo[d]isoxazole-5-sulfonyl chloride Chlorosulfonic acid (1.5 ml, 22 mmol) was slowly added to 3-Bromomethyl-benzo[d]isoxazole (1.0 g, 4.7 mmol) at RT under argon.
